Getting started with Intermittent Fasting
What is intermittent fasting (IF)?
Intermittent fasting is a dietary approach in which you go for temporary periods without consuming any calories from food or drink. Common schedules are the 5:2 diet, where you fast for 2 days a week and eat normally for 5 days, and 16:8, where you fast for 16 hours a day and eat during an 8-hour eating window.
Will intermittent fasting help me lose weight?
Research does support the use of intermittent fasting for weight loss. Since weight loss ultimately comes down to consuming fewer calories than you use each day, fasting is one way to reduce overall calorie intake. However, research has not shown that intermittent fasting leads to significantly better weight loss than other more traditional calorie-reduction methods.
